This week, the new logo and visual identity for Calgary’s civic brand, Blue Sky City, was shared with the community and brought to life at First Flip – the first unofficial Stampede event of the year. Inspired by beadwork, the visual identity captures Calgary's story as a place of confluence where peoples, lands, cultures and ideas come together.

Calgary is the fifth most livable city in the world! The city rose from its position in seventh place in 2023 - and now ranks as the most livable city in North America in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual list of the world’s most livable cities.
Community leaders gather to collaborate on steps to advance Calgary's economic action plan, Uplook
At the second annual Assembly for Calgary’s Economic Strategy, community leaders reflected on progress made in 2023, and identified opportunities to collaborate moving forward.
The conversations centered around the community's economic action plan - Uplook: An Action Plan for Our Economy. The future-focused plan lays a framework for organizations in the city to work towards building economic prosperity for all Calgarians through a focus on innovation, livability, talent, business environment and brand.
On July 4, 2024, the annual First Flip Pancake Breakfast unofficially kicked off the Stampede season.
